Indore police official website hacked, probe underway

According to reports, a cyber attack has been carried out on the 'Contact Us' section of the website where details of senior officers were available. This page contains the details of the names, designations and phone numbers of the Director-General of Police of the state, the Inspector General of Police of Indore Zone and other senior officials.

Indore: The official website of Indore Police (indorepolice.org) has been reportedly hacked by an alleged hacker on Tuesday who has posted obscene and objectionable content on it. On getting informed, a section of the website was blocked and a probe has been launched to nab the hacker.

According to reports, a cyber attack has been carried out on the 'Contact Us' section of the website where details of senior officers were available. This page contains the details of the names, designations and phone numbers of the Director-General of Police (DGP) of the state, the Inspector General of Police (IG) of Indore Zone and other senior officials.

The hacker wrote “Hacked by Mohammed Bilal team PCE - Free Kashmir, Pakistan Zindabad,” in place of the names of the officers.

The website is maintained by the Indore Police Crime Prevention Branch. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Guru Prasad Parashar said that with the help of technical experts and the cyber team efforts are being made to restore the website.

"We are monitoring the actions of the hackers and also tracing details of the PCE organisation. Free Kashmir and Pakistan Zindabad slogan was written on the page and pictures of many senior officials were replaced by obscene images. The hacker has also posted objectionable content about Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Parashar said.

There is a possibility that the hacker is associated with any terrorist organization, he added. Earlier, the Facebook accounts of two Indore officers were also hacked and police are closely investigating the cyber attack.

Notably, two terrorists were recently caught in Kakori near Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow following which UP Anti-Terrorism Squad conducted raids in many cities. A red alert has also been issued in Madhya Pradesh after it was revealed that the terrorists were linked to the Al Qaeda terror outfit.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also directed all the DGPs to issue a red alert on Monday.
