However, the police have not confirmed the involvement of Naxalites so far.

According to information received by the police on Tuesday, Sonu's body was found at a location between Navarwahi and Rayali Kodappa in the Lanji police station area.

A hand-written leaflet found on the body claimed that Sonu was a police informant and had, therefore, been killed by the Naxals.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Tiwari said that a handwritten note was recovered from the deceased, but it did not seem to have been written by the Naxalites.

Balaghat is a Naxalite-affected district of Madhya Pradesh and is situated on the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border. Since Naxals are active in the area, their involvement in the murder is most likely, said Tiwari.
