Indore: Cracking down its operation against fake currency notes in the state, the Madhya Pradesh Special Task Force arrested another person with counterfeit currency notes with a face value of Rs 1 lakh on Sunday. The accused person has been nabbed from Buharanpur area in the state.
Earlier, the STF sleuths arrested four persons from Khargone district with counterfeit currency notes.
Acting on specific information, the STF raided Buharanpur area and arrested the accused when he was exchanging fake notes.
"We have seized more than three lakh fake Indian currency notes. After interrogating the four other accused, the investigators came to know that they used to bring fake notes from Bediya. Among the accused, Vaishnav and his partner Mathew aka Shubham are suspected to be a part an international smuggling racket," an STF official said.
"Police have registered a case under sections 489 A, B, C and D and 34 of the IPC and started the search for other members of the gang. The regions were the gang members used to circulate fake currency notes would be investigated," the official added.
