Gwalior: The uptick in Covid-19 cases and the dire need for Remdesivir injections for critically ill patients have led to an alarming crisis in Gwalior. The family members of COVID patients have been making rounds of the district collectorate over the last two days to get the Remdesivir injections. They are forced to wait for prolonged 30 hours while their kin have been admitted to hospitals on oxygen support.

It should also be noted that nodal officers have been receiving orders from other cities including Delhi, Bhopal, Agra, Kanpur, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Mumbai. A nodal officer said that he received a call from a doctor in South Africa stating that his patient has been admitted to Aroghyadham hospital in critical condition and Remedesivir should be administered immediately.

According to sources, till now, 1,500 requests for Remdesivir have been received.

While authorities said that they have not yet received the doses and it would soon be made available to patients once the stock is received.

The procedures have been followed stringently so that the doses would be administered to the right patients. Fake demands have been reported, sources said.

Waiting in the collectorate for the past thirty hours, Bhanu Shankar said that his younger brother Saket Bajpai and sister-in-law Sulabha Bajpai are on oxygen support. Doctors have asked him to get a Remdesivir dose, but it costs Rs 35,000, he said.
