Dewas (Madhya Pradesh): After rape allegations on Kabir Ashram in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas came to light, district administration demolished the Ashram building over encroachment of land on Wednesday.
The ashram was constructed on 1500 square feet government land in Balgadh area of Dewas district.
Earlier, a 22-year-old physically challenged girl was allegedly raped by the Kabir Ashram staff in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district.
After the matter came to light, police have launched an investigation into the case and rescued six girls from the Ashram. Police also sent the girl to a hospital for her medical test and further investigation is underway.
Speaking to reporters here, Priya Verma, SDM, Dewas said, "The Asram had encroached upon a part of 1500 square feet government land. The ashram was constructed illegally. We were receiving so many complaints related to the illegal construction of the ashram and also about an alleged rape case. The administration did not serve a notice to Ashram authority as it was an illegal construction."
"Following this, we took such a step to demolish the illegal construction. Madhya Pradesh government had given only 450 square feet land to the Ashram but illegal construction was made and it was demolished today," Verma said.
"We have handed over the rape case to the police and they have started an investigation into it. The identities of the accused persons are yet to be ascertained and as many as six girls have been rescued," she added.
