MP govt orders to trace, quarantine Kumbh pilgrims as 60 devotees test Covid +ve

The Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha district administration announced that 22 of the 83 people who returned after attending the Kumbh Mela went missing from the area. Of the remaining 61 who have been traced, 60 have tested positive for Covid-19.

Vidisha (Madhya Pradesh): As many as 60 people of Gyaraspur in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha district, who returned from the Kumbh in Haridwar found 60 of them were infected with Covid-19.

According to reports, 60 people of 83 people, who had gone for the holy dip at Kumbh Mela from Gyaraspur were tested positive for coronavirus and 22 people have still remained untraced.

After this exercise, the Vidisha administration has ordered to trace people who visited the Mahakumbh in Haridwar, test them for Covid and quarantine them.

At least 83 pilgrims had left for Haridwar between April 11 and 15 in different buses. Of them, 22 people who returned after attending the Kumbh Mela went missing from the area while 60 have tested positive for Covid-19.

The 60 who have tested positive have been asked to stay in home isolation with a directive to report complications if any, immediately.

Meanwhile, the state home department also asked district collectors to speed up the tracing of Kumbh returnees and their contacts and quarantine them for 14 days.
