Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government is going to honour Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone for her stellar performance in Chhapaak, a film which depicts a tale of trauma and triumph of a real-life acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
The film after hitting the theatres on Friday got a mixed reaction from the people of the country.

While protests have erupted in some of the states against the film most of the Congress-ruled states have declared the film tax-free.
After being declared Padukone's Chhapaak tax-free in Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath's government has now decided to honour the actor for her outstanding performance in her film at the forthcoming IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) Awards.
As IIFA 2020 is scheduled to be held in Madhya Pradesh from 19 to 21 March.
The three-day-long award function will be organised on March 19 in Bhopal and the next two days in Indore.
Madhya Pradesh Public Relations Minister PC Sharma said that during the event, Deepika Padukone will be honoured by the state government for the film Chhapaak.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone expressed her stand on visiting the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus, days after the violence occurred at the JNU campus in Delhi.

"I feel proud to see that we aren’t scared to express ourselves... I think the fact that we are thinking about the country and its future... Whatever may be our point of view, it’s nice to see."
However, her solidarity with protesting students did not go down well with sections of the society and the actor has been receiving criticism from different personalities.
