MP excise official raided, gold worth Rs 50 lakh recovered

Lokayukta police on Tuesday conducted raids at properties owned by assistant commissioner excise, Alok Khare at several locations across four districts of Madhya Pradesh namely Indore, Bhopal, Chhatarpur, and Raisen and unearthed wealth, including gold worth over Rs 50 lakh, and property documents. Raids are likely to continue till Wednesday.

Bhopal: The Lokayukta Police team on Tuesday raided the properties of Alok Khare, assistant commissioner in Madhya Pradesh excise department, in a case of disproportionate assets case, on Tuesday morning and unearthed wealth, including gold worth over Rs 50 lakh, and property documents.

"We raided seven places of Alok Kumar Khare (51) in Bhopal, Indore, Raisen, Chhattarpur, and Gwalior. One of our teams recovered gold worth Rs 50 lakh and silver valued at Rs 2 lakh from Khare's residence in Golden City locality on Hoshangabad Road," said Bhopal Lokayukta Superintendent of Police, Irmeen Shah.

Two farmhouses belonging to Khare in Raisen district were also searched, she said, adding that raids are likely to continue till Wednesday.

Shah stated that over 50 personnel are engaged in the raids which started after complaints were lodged against Khare by locals who complained that he had amassed property and wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income while he was posted in Dhar and Khargone.

Khare has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Shah informed. The raids on Excise Assistant Commissioner, Alok Kumar Khare currently posted at Indore are continuing, the official added.

gold worth over Rs 50 lakh, and property documents, an
official said.
         The raids on Excise Assistant Commissioner Alok Kumar
Khare (51), posted in Indore, are continuing, the official
added.
         "We raided seven places of Alok Kumar Khare (51) in
Bhopal, Indore, Raisen, Chhattarpur and Gwalior. One of our
teams recovered gold worth Rs 50 lakh and silver valued at Rs
