Shahdol(MP): At least six infants have died within 24 hours at a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol.
A ruckus was caused at the district hospital here after the death of six infants within 24 hours.
Defending the hospital staff, Civil Surgeon In-Charge, Mukund Chaturvedi said, "The hospital administration cannot be blamed for negligence as the infants were in a very critical condition."
He further added that Child specialist Dr Sunil Hathgel had been treating these kids and tried his best to save them.
"Dr Sunil tried to save those kids while they were already in a very critical condition," he said.
Chaturvedi asserted that the kids were suffering from pneumonia and were in a state of shock when they were admitted in the hospital.
After receiving information of these deaths, minister Kamleshwar Patel visited the hospital for inspection.
He also ordered an investigation into the matter.
Manager Chaturvedi has ensured an enquiry in the matter and has said that a detailed report in will be submitted soon.
