Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): BJP leaders Kailash Vijayvargiya and Prahlad Patel Singh were sworn in as ministers in the Mohan Yadav-led Madhya Pradesh government on Monday. The duo was administered the oath of office by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel.
Vijay Shah, Karan Singh Verma, Rakesh Singh and Uday Pratap Singh also took oath as ministers in the Mohan Yadav-led government. Sampatia Uikey, Tulsiram Silawat, Aidal Singh Kansana, and Govind Singh Rajput were also sworn in as Madhya Pradesh ministers.
A total of 28 BJP leaders took oath as ministers. 18 leaders including Pradhuman Singh Tomar and Vishwas Sarang took oath as Cabinet ministers. Six leaders took oath as Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and four leaders took oath as Ministers of State.
Those who took oath as cabinet ministers are - Vijay Shah, Kailash Vijayvargiya, Prahlad Patel, Karan Singh Verma, Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap Singh, Sampatia Uikey, Tulsiram Silawat, Aidal Singh Kansana, Govind Singh Rajput, Vishvas Sarang, Nirmala Bhuria, Narayan Singh Kushawaha, Nagar Singh Chouhan, Pradyumna Singh Tomar, Rakesh Shukla, Chaitanya Kashyap and Inder Singh Parmar.
The ministers of state with independent charge are Krishna Gaur, Dharmendra Bhav Lodhi, Dilip Jaiswal, Gautam Tetwal, Lakhan Patel and Narayan Singh Pawar. The other MLAs who took oath as minister of state are Narendra Shivaji Patel, Pratima Bagri, Dilip Ahirwar, and Radha Singh, the official said.
Five women legislators - Sampatia Uikey, Nirmala Bhuria, Krishna Gaur, Pratima Bagri and Radha Singh - are among those included in the ministry led by CM Yadav. The total strength of the cabinet has now gone up to 31, including CM Yadav and two deputy chief ministers Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda. The maximum strength of the council of ministers in Madhya Pradesh, which has 230 MLAs, can be 35, including the CM.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the new cabinet will work for the state's betterment under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders. The CM arrived at the Raj Bhawan to meet the Governor before the oath-taking ceremony.
"The new cabinet will work for the betterment of the state under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party president J P Nadda and state party chief VD Sharma," said the CM, who met Nadda in New Delhi on Sunday evening.
CM Yadav, however, had refused to reveal the exact number and names of the MLAs to be inducted into the council of ministers. The MP cabinet headed by Yadav has two deputy chief ministers- Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda. The maximum strength of the council of ministers in Madhya Pradesh, which has 230 MLAs, can be 35, including the CM.
"After clinching a landslide victory under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our double engine government will move ahead under his leadership and that of BJP chief JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah," Yadav said on Sunday. In the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections held last month, the BJP won 163 seats and the Congress 66. Yadav took oath as chief minister on December 13 along with Shukla and Devda, who were sworn in as deputy CMs.
