Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): Nearly half-dozen miscreants allegedly threw chilli powder into the eyes of police personnel deployed at the Nipiniya checkpoint here on Wednesday night.
According to Kotwali Inspector Tausheef Khan, six people who were roaming near here were asked to stop the bike for interrogation.
When the constable asked the reason for their roaming, one of the miscreants threw chilli powder into his eyes and flew away.
"Four policemen were deployed near Nipiniya checkpoint on Wednesday. They noticed that six people, riding a two-wheeler were roaming in the village without any valid reason. When they asked some miscreants about the purpose for their movement, they allegedly threw chilli powder into their eyes and ran away", said Khan to ETV Bharat.
However, the incident happened swiftly that the policemen were unable to note down their vehicle number, added Khan.
According to the latest update, all the miscreants involved in the incident have been identified and will be booked shortly.
Recently, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has announced that stringent National Security Act (NSA) will be slapped on people who attack policemen enforcing the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The state government's move to invoke the NSA comes in view of reports of several incidents of attack on policemen enforcing the lockdown.
