Indore police nab fake IPS officer

Indore police have arrested a man for impersonating as an IPS officer from a hotel in Vijay Nagar. He has been booked under the charges of hoodwinking and cheating.

Indore: Police have arrested a fake IPS officer in Vijay Nagar from a luxury hotel after he denied paying bills of Rs 46,000 on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Ayush Sharma from Ujjain.

"Many cases have also been registered against the accused at Chimanganj and Madhavnagar police stations in Ujjain and he was on the run," police said. Sharma has been booked under the charges of hoodwinking people including police officers as an IPS and cheating them.

As per police, accused Sharma used to stay in luxury hotels and take huge discounts with extra facilities. He has saved the number of his friends with the names of top police officials on Truecaller app.

"Around four days back, Sharma booked a room at Wow Hotel. When he was asked to clear his bills, he threatened hotel staff. On getting informed, DIG Indore directed Vijay Nagar police to investigate the matter following which police arrested him," said Tehzeeb Qazi, Station Incharge.

The accused has been taken into custody for further interrogation into the matter.
