Indore: The Indore District Court has ordered an insurance company to pay a compensation of Rs 1 crore 22 lakhs 78 thousand to the family member of Junior Engineer (JE) of Madhya Pradesh electricity department killed in a road accident two years ago.
For the first time in the state, the Indore court has given such an order, which is being appreciated all over.
According to reports, Justice Ramesh Ranjan Choubey has asked the New India Assurance Company to pay an amount Rs 1 crore 22 lakhs 78 thousand to JE, Jay Sameer Ekka's family.
The government employee was killed in a road accident near Rajgarh in 2018. The accident occurred when Ekka was heading towards Rajgarh. The speeding truck, which was coming from the opposite side, hit him. Ekka was killed on the spot.
Following this, the family members had knocked on the door of the court to get their insurance claim.
On the initiative of Advocate, Rajesh Khandelwal, the insurance company agreed to pay the hefty compensation package to deceased family members.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Advocate, Rajesh Khandelwal said, "Ekka was the only earning member of the family. After his death, his family's financial situation deteriorated significantly and even during this period of Covid-19, his family was living their lives in the midst of financial crisis."
"Hearing the arguments of both the sides, the Hon'ble Court, Justice Ramesh Ranjan Choubey has ordered the insurance company to give an amount of one crore 22 lakh 78 thousand rupees as compensation to the family members. This is the first case in the state that someone's family is getting such a hefty amount as compensation," he said.
