Guna (Madhya Pradesh): Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and Congress General Secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia held a very short meeting on-road and exchanged greetings with each other in Guna on Monday.

Following busy schedules of both the leaders, they decided to drop their 45 minutes closed-door meeting which was arranged at the Guna circuit house.

The meeting had however attracted huge political attention.

Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh was on his way to attend the condolence ceremony of Surya Prakash Tiwari when he met former-Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Speaking exclusively with ETV Bharat, Singh informed that his visit is not political as it is completely personal. He revealed that he visited the residence of his nephew Surya Prakash Tiwari in Raghogad to attend the condolence ceremony of his father Surya Prakash Tiwari following his good family terms.

Surya Prakash Tiwari was a very prominent person in Guna, Singh added.

Digvijaya Singh further stated that he is likely to visit the residence of his driver Akhtar in Indore to condole the demise of his father.

Reacting to his small interaction with Scindia on road, Digvijay said that they share a good relationship between them and he welcomed Maharaj while greeting him.

Meanwhile, the Congress stalwarts are considered political rivals and their closed-door meeting was expected to come in the backdrop of upcoming elections for three Rajya Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh falling vacant on April 9.

Also, the meeting between Digvijaya Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia assumed importance as Scindia had recently been quite vocal against the state government of his party following tension brewing between him and chief minister Kamal Nath again.

The war of words between Kamal Nath and Scindia over 'manifesto promises in Madhya Pradesh' received mixed responses from political leaders. While some extended supports to Scindia, others said that the duo must resolve their internal differences within the party.

On February 15, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said that Jyotiraditya is not against anybody and that the party is "together" under the leadership of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
