The story of her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, both specially-abled, motivated her.

Parvati Mathuriya was a government teacher, but she had to quit her job post marriage.

In 1992, she opened ‘Siddhant’, a free school for specially-abled students with her family's help.

She said that her campaign to educate specially-abled students was not easy and that in the beginning, her school had just seven students.

The number of students increased gradually, she added.

People in more numbers also started to come forward to teach the students.

Out of more than 350 students who have completed their education from Parvati’s school, about 50-60 students are currently gainfully employed or happily running their own businesses, sources said.

Students are taught everything that they need to learn to spend their lives normally along with Sanskrit and Physical Education, said a specially-abled student.
