Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Four persons died and two others sustained critical injuries in a head-on crash involving an SUV and a truck on National Highway 30 in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur on Sunday wee hours.
The deceased have been identified as Pankaj Burman (23), Surjeet Dhurve (22), Mohit Sharma (22), Arun Cole (23). All are residents of Sihora area of the city.
According to reports, six persons were heading towards their home town in an SUV after attending an event at Mohsam village on Saturday night.
The incident occurred near Sihora-Baheriband locality on the NH-30 in Jabalpur when an onion laden truck coming in opposite direction collided head-on with the SUV.
While four persons including the driver Arun Cole died on the spot, two injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
After being informed, a police team led by SP Sidharth Bahuguna and SSP Shivesh Singh reached the spot and sent the bodies for post mortem, reports added.
According to police, the driver of the truck coming from the opposite direction lost control over the wheels due to some technical snag in its gearbox.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the truck driver and registered a case of negligent driving against him. The accident led to a traffic jam for several hours before both the vehicles were moved away from the road, reports added.
