State govt announces ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs for kin of victims
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the government has decided to give an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs each for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the bus accident in Sidhi. Rs 10,000 each has been given to them immediately.
He further said the rescue operation has completed.
It is unfortunate that 45 bodies have been recovered, he added.

PM announces ex-gratia for kin of victims of MP's Sidhi bus accident
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for kin of those who have lost their lives.
"PM Narendra Modi has approved an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the bus accident in Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh. Rs 50,000 would be given to those seriously injured," Prime Minister's Office tweeted.

Many people are feared dead after a bus full of passengers fell into a canal in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district on Tuesday morning. According to the sources, there were over 50 passengers on board the bus.
According to the information received from the Control Room, the bus is submerged in deep water which caused a large number of fatalities.
"The bus was en-route to Rewa from Sidhi. Suddenly, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into the Sharda canal under the Rampur police station area. There is water in the canal and the bus has been submerged in it.
Meanwhile, 7 people were safely evacuated from the canal.
Rescue operations continue.

Madhya Pradesh: At least 39 people, including 16 women, died after the bus they were travelling in fell off a bridge into a canal near Patna village in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district on Tuesday morning, a senior official said, adding that search operations are still going on.
After fishing out 18 bodies initially, rescuers have retrieved 21 more bodies until now, said Rewa Divisional Commissioner Rajesh Jain.
"A total of 39 bodies, including 16 women, 20 men and a child, have been fished out of the Bansagar canal until now," he said, adding that a magisterial probe has been ordered.
Prima facie, over 44 passengers were travelling on the bus at the time of the accident, which occurred around 8:30 AM.
"Seven persons managed to swim to the banks of the canal after the incident and 39 bodies have been recovered. The 44 passengers have been identified so far," Jain added.
Earlier in the morning, Inspector General (Rewa zone) Joga had confirmed the recovery of 18 bodies from the accident site.
The bus landed into the canal near Patna village, around 80 kms away from the Sidhi district headquarter, around 8:30 AM.
