COVID-19 warriors: Bhopal doctor transforms his car into a home

Dr Sachin Nayak, who has been posted at a COVID-19 isolation ward in the district hospital of Bhopal, visited his family almost 10 days ago in order to safeguard them from the deadly virus. Since then, the doctor has transformed his car into a home, where he kept all the essential commodities required for survival.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): At the time when doctors, nurses and medical support staff are increasingly getting infected by the novel coronavirus in India, a Bhopal based doctor stand staunchly against the battle of deadly novel coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Sachin Nayak, who has been posted in a COVID-19 isolation ward in the district hospital here, visited his family almost 10 days ago in order to safeguard them from the deadly virus.

Since then, the doctor has transformed his car into a home, where he kept all the essential commodities required for survival.

In an exclusive interaction with ETV Bharat, Dr Sachin said, "Amid life-threatening infectious disease, I have converted my car into a temporary house which has been parked on a hospital campus near here."

When asked about the media reports of doctors and other health professionals testing positive or having exposure to COVID-19 patients, he maintained, "As our soldiers are performing their duties in adverse condition, similarly, we are also fighting a battle with the deadly pandemic. The only difference lies on the battlefield."

The doctor further appealed all the citizens to stay at homes in order to break the chain of the infectious virus.

An ICMR study has found that a COVID-19 patient can infect 406 people in 30 days if preventive measures such as lockdown and social distancing are not implemented.

After hitting the headlines, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday took to micro-blogging site to applaud the efforts and commitment towards his duties.

The number of cases of the novel coronavirus across the globe crossed the 1.3 million mark as the global death toll topped 70,000. India entered the third week of its 21-day lockdown, the total number of confirmed cases of novel coronavirus surged to 5,194 and the death toll touched 165 on Wednesday.
