Bhopal: BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur yet again raked up a row by calling for population control among people who work "against the nation."

She also added that the BJP will win the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in West Bengal next year and that ‘Hindu Raj’ will prevail in the state.

At a Kshatriya Sammelan in Sehore on Saturday, Thakur said, “a Kshatriya being called a Kshatriya does not take offence because they are working for the nation and population control laws should be imposed on them who are working against nation.”

Reacting to the attack on party chief JP Nadda’s convoy in West Bengal, she said that chief minister Mamata Banerjee is “frustrated” because her rule is about to end.

Meanwhile, Thakur's comment triggered strong protests from opposition members.

Slamming Thakur, State Congress Spokesperson, Ajay Yadav said that the statements of the MP is unfortunate and demolishes the dignity of the post.

"She is an MP and she should do good works for the people of their Lok Sabha constituency, but instead of doing their social activities, they are making controversial statements," Yadav said.

"Three patients died in Hamidia Hospital in his Lok Sabha constituency, but she did not talk about this matter and apart from all major issues of her constituency, she is making condemnable statements. It is unfortunate for the people of Bhopal to have such a public representative," he added.

However, the BJP has managed to camouflage its silent endorsement of Thakur's offending remark and distanced itself from her controversial statement.
