Delays hit distribution of imported oxygen equipment

The Indore CA Association has brought oxygen concentrators from the Netherlands. However, to their dismay, the Customs kept the life-saving machines at the Mumbai Airport for more than two days.

Indore: The Indore CA Association has brought oxygen concentrators from the Netherlands. However, to their dismay, the Customs kept the life-saving machines at the Mumbai Airport for more than two days.

In light of the continuous oxygen crisis in Indore, the CA Association collected funds and ordered oxygen concentrators from the Netherlands. The CA Association plans to distribute these oxygen cylinders to the residents of the city.

The government of the Netherlands also expedited the process of sending the machine to India, fulfilling all the permissions within 24 hours. The machines reached India on time as well, but when they landed at Mumbai Airport, complications related to customs duty kept the oxygen concentrators in the airport for over two and half days.

A customs duty of three lakh rupees was also paid by the Indore CA Association. Even during the transportation of the oxygen concentrators to Indore, the truck was stopped on the way and another bribe of one thousand rupees was paid.

The oxygen concentrators have reached the city and the Indore CA Association will soon distribute the machines to the general public of the city.
