Bhopal: Ahead of this year Diwali, a Bhopal-based home baker Manisha has found an innovative way to combine the tradition of exchanging sweets and bursting crackers with edible firecracker chocolates.

Manisha and her husband Dr Anupam prepared edible chocolates-shaped rockets, bombs, and chain crackers. The objective is to encourage people to opt for celebrating the festival of light in an eco-friendly way by saying no to firecrackers.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Manisha said," We have chocolates in the shape of rockets, bombs, and flower pots among others. In the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a fear among the people while visiting markets. Despite this fact, the customer response has been brilliant."

"In such a gloomy situation, this method has been used to protect the environment and epidemics like corona infection from burning firecrackers. If people celebrate eco-friendly Diwali in this way, then along with the environment, we will be able to survive the corona pandemic," she said.

She said firecracker chocolates are made after melting and tempering the chocolate. Thereafter it is poured into cracker-shaped moulds. Later, these are wrapped and a sticker is pasted so that each piece looks like a cracker.

The chocolates are available in a variety of flavours such as plain dark and milk chocolate, roasted almonds, fruit and nut.
