Thiruvananthapuram: Mother, who was arrested by the police for sexually assaulting her minor boy, has been remanded to judicial custody after the police recorded the arrest and produced her before the Court.
The woman from Kadakkavur in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has been charged for violating of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Though the complaint was initially thought to be framed as part of the family dispute between the woman and her husband, the sexual assault was confirmed after recording the secret statement of the child.
The Child Welfare Committee, in their complaint to the Police after recording the child’s statement, has clearly mentioned that he has been sexually assaulted by his mother for about 4 years.

The children of the separated couple were in their mother’s custody. The boy’s father, who lives abroad, had taken the children along with him in December 2019. After sensing something wrong with the boy’s behaviour, the father came back to Kerala and informed the Child Welfare Committee and took him for counselling.
It is for the first time in Kerala that the mother of the sexual assault survivor is named accused in a POCSO case.
