Idukki (Kerala): Thevaram Mettu, a hilly area, in Idukki District of Kerala invites tourists and travellers to explore the natural beauty of the hills and the valleys here.
The distant view of agricultural villages along the borders of Tamil Nadu and Kerala also makes Thevaram Mettu’s scenery unique and enticing.
Many tourists who visit Thekkadi and Munnar, the famous tourist centres in Kerala, also reach Thevaram Mettu, hearing about the chaste beauty of this place.
The people of this region hope and believe that once an interstate link road connecting Nedumkandam, Thevaram Mettu and Thevaram is developed, the progress of tourism in Thevaram Mettu will also be realised.
Thevaram is the shortest way to connect Tamil Nadu with the ‘high range’ (hilly region). Discussions are also on to explore the possibilities of reviving and rebuilding the road which was in use earlier.
The scope and development of tourism in Thevaram Mettu, Ramakkal Medu, Chathurangappara, Thooval, Kailasappara, all situated along the Kerala - Tamil Nadu border, will only gain momentum once a proper road is built here connecting these places and Tamil Nadu.
