Kerala teacher makes dot portraits of his students

Suresh Annoor, a teacher in Payyannur Kandangali Shenoys Memorial Higher Secondary School has used his free time to make dot portraits of his students. He plans to gift them when classes resume.

Kannur: Every year on Teacher's Day, students gift teachers as a token of thanks and appreciation for their relentless service. For a change, a teacher from Kannur in Kerala has decided to gift the students.

Multi-talented Suresh Annoor, a teacher in Payyannur Kandangali Shenoys Memorial Higher Secondary School is also an excellent painter.

Specialising in dot portraits, Annoor has immortalised all of his 35 students in his art during his leisure time and plans to gift them when schools re-open.

Annoor says, he depends on his memory for reference while painting.

The 35 students have been under his guidance for two years - in the eighth and ninth standards.

"Over the years that I have spent my students, I can remember their face properly," he said.

It takes one whole day for Annoor to finish with one portrait and once it is finished, he gets it laminated and framed, turning it into a proper gift.

"I want to gift my students their portrait on the first day of their class 10. It would make for a good gift and I am looking forward to it," Annoor added.

Earlier, Annor has gifted dot portraits to popular personalities including Sukumar Azheekkod, Playback singer KJ Yesudas, Playback singer KS Chitra.

Currently, educational institutions aren't functioning traditionally due to the pandemic COVID-19.
