Thiruvananthapuram: A retired policeman allegedly committed suicide here on Friday after killing his wife following a spat over property.
According to reports, former assistant sub-inspector Ponnan (68) attacked K Leela (72), a retired head constable, with a log seriously injuring her.

"We were informed about the incident by the locals and we reached the place with an ambulance. While shifting the woman to a hospital, Ponnan hanged himself from a tree behind their house," the police said.
The woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The couple was living in two houses located opposite to each other, and used to quarrel over their property.
