Kannur (Kerala): After ten months of absconding, the prime accused in the Fashion Gold Jewellery cheating case, Pookoya Thangal, has surrendered in the Kasargod Hosdurg court here on Wednesday. Thangal, managing director of Fashion Gold jewellery, who was absconding for the past 10 months, has been remanded to judicial custody.
More than 100 complaints have been registered in several police stations of Kannur and Kasargod against the Thangal and former MLA of Manjeswaram MC Kamaruddin, who was the chairman of the jewellery group, after which, MC Kamaruddin was held, but Pookoya Thangal went into hiding.

However, Kamaruddin was released on bail after being imprisoned in Kannur Central Jail for 93 days. The complaints were lodged in connection with the financial fraud related to the gold jewellery business.
The people's trust in Thangal and Kamaruddin, who was the MLA then, had attracted many to invest in the jewellery group.
The case is currently being probed by the Crime Branch.
