Man attempts suicide during human chain protest

A 27-year-old youth has tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrist by chanting 'Vande Mataram' and has tried to enter the side of the area where the ministers have been standing.

Kollam (Kerala): A youth reportedly tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrist during the human chain protest organised by LDF, here on Sunday.

The 27-year-old youth was identified as Ajoy.

Chanting ‘Vande Mataram’ he slit his wrist using a knife and tried to enter the area where ministers were standing.

Carrying the knife on one arm and bleeding from the other, Ajoy reached 10 metres away from the stage.

LDF activists stopped Ajoy and police rushed him to the Kollam Government General Hospital.

The Doctors said that three veins in his arm have been severed and now they are planning to take Ajoy to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College for advanced treatment.

It is still not clear if Ajoy is a political activist.
