Palakkad: Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala during his Aishwarya Kerala Yathra at Palakkad on Monday, said that the United Democratic Front (UDF) led by the Congress will review and look into all the illegal appointments made by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, once it is elected to power in the coming Assembly elections.

He was speaking at a welcome gathering in connection with the ‘Kerala election tour’ at Palakkad. Public gatherings were organised at Palakkad, Thrithala, Koottanad and Mannarkkad in Palakkad district.

Mocking at the LDF’s alleged illegal job appointments, Chennithala said, "the Left Front had to provide jobs to the wives of its former MPs as a solution for failing them at Palakkad and Alathur."

"The LDF has appointed 3 lakh people through the backdoor and consultancy-based appointments. It has cheated the educated youth of Kerala. If the UDF comes to power, the appointments would be made only through the established system," the Opposition leader said.

"The Left now complains that the UDF is raking up the Sabarimala issue. UDF is with believers. The CPM gets scared when it hears Sabarimala these days. The CPM’s stand now is that they will discuss the matter only after the Court verdict. Will Pinarayi Vijayan shed his fancy dress of a reform leader and change the affidavit given by the Government in the Court," Chennithala asked.

Speaking at Koottanad, Chennithala said, if the UDF comes to power, the draft bill released by the UDF penalising women of menstruating age entering Sabarimala and violating rituals with two-year imprisonment, will be discussed and the law would be enacted.

The CPM had tried to communalise our leaders’ visit to Palakkad. How would meeting up with the allies of the UDF become communalism, he asked.
