Malappuram (Kerala): The First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Karipur Police in the Kozhikode plane crash, here on Monday afternoon, indicates that the accident happened due to 'careless action' during the landing of the aircraft.
Even as the aviation authorities are investigating into the incident which happened last Friday at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, the local police registered a case at the Karipur police station and have started the probe.
An FIR has been submitted with the Nilambur First Class Magistrate, who is also in charge of the Manjeri Court.
The FIR has been filed based on the statement of a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Sub Inspector who was on duty at the airport at the time of the incident.
The case has been charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Aircraft Act for 'causing the accident due to carelessness.'
Abdul Kareem, District Police Chief, Malappuram, informed that a State Police investigation into the incident is on, parallel to the investigation ordered by the Aviation Ministry.

A special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the air crash. Addition Superintendent of Police, G Sabu, will lead the team.
The cause of the accident and any failure that could have happened in the procedure during the landing of the aircraft will be investigated, as it comes under the ambit of the police probe.
Further, a police investigation report is also necessary to avail insurance for those on board during the plane crash.
