Idukki (Kerala): The funeral ceremony of Soumya Santosh, who was killed in the Palestinian rocket attack in Israel, was held at Keerithodu Nithyasahayamatha Church here in Idukki on Sunday. John Nellikunnel, Bishop of Idukki diocese, officiated the funeral ceremony at around 2 pm.
The mortal remains of Soumya was brought to her home at Keerithodu on Saturday midnight. People paid tribute to the departed soul as her body was kept at her residence. Besides locals and politicians, Consul General of Israel Jonathan Zadka also visited Soumya's residence to pay homage. Later in a tweet, Zadka said, "Honoured to pay my respects & convey our sympathies to the family and friends of Ms Soumya Santosh as she was laid to rest in her home town Keerithod, #Kerala. May she R.I.P. Our prayers are with the family that lost an angel in a cowardly #hamasterror attack (sic)."

"On behalf of the Israeli people, @israelinbenguluru extends its condolences to the family at loss. We hope peace restores soon Folded hands (sic)," he tweeted.
Soumya was among those killed in a rocket attack by a Palestinian Islamist group on Tuesday. She was working as a caretaker to an elderly woman at a house in the Ashkelon, which borders the Gaza strip. She had been working in Israel for the last seven years.
