Kannur(Kerala): A 40-year-old woman from Thalassery was abducted and sexually abused by a group of unidentified men in Palani, Tamil Nadu. The incident happened on June 19. The woman, who sustained serious injuries is currently undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College in Kannur. The incident came to light after the woman was admitted to the hospital due to her poor health condition.
The couple was on their way to Palani by train from Palakkad when an unidentified group of three men abducted the woman, dragged her to a nearby lodge and brutally tortured her. The culprits even went on to inflict injuries to her private parts using beer bottles. The group also beat her husband who tried to stop them.
The couple somehow managed to escape from the lodge. They also alleged that the Palani police did not take any action even when they pleaded for help. They returned to Kerala and sought treatment at Thalassery Taluk Hospital and later shifted to Pariyaram Medical College.

The police started an investigation after the DGP received a complaint about the incident. Kannur City Police Commissioner R Ilanko reached the Medical college and recorded their statement. The report will be handed over to the Tamil Nadu Police after conducting a preliminary investigation.
