Kerala: Police arrest man for tossing 13-year-old daughter into river

Sanu Mohan has admitted that he had tossed his 13-year-old daughter, Vaiga, into Muttar river. He confessed to the police that he had planned to commit suicide after tossing his daughter.

Ernakulam: Sanu Mohan who is accused of the murder of 13-year-old-girl, Vaiga, has confessed that he had thrown his daughter into Muttar River. Mohan was detained in Karwar, Karnataka on Sunday and police brought him to Kochi at 4:30 am on Monday.

It is learned that Mohan confessed to the police that he threw Vaiga in the river with a plan to commit suicide after killing his daughter. However, police say, he "failed" to complete his original plan. According to police, Sanu Mohan was burdened by financial issues, as per his confession. Reportedly, he disappeared from the scene with his car. Police, however, have found contradictions in his statements. An interrogation is underway.

Vaiga's body was found in Muttar river on March 22, a day after she had gone missing with her father Mohan. He was apprehended by Kerala police while trying to cross Goa from Karwar.

The arrest was reported after 27 days of the girls' death. CCTV visuals obtained from Mookambika helped police to track him down.
