Kozhikode: The political parties in the State are all set with their list of candidates and their election strategies well in advance, even though the declaration for elections to the local self-governance institutions is yet to come. Some have started their campaigns on social media.
The works to make the campaign posters and banners for the candidates are also being carried out in a full swing in Kozhikode district of Kerala. Even as the uncertainties owing to COVID are on one side, the political parties and the candidates on the other side have decided to make the most out of the campaigning in whatever ways they can.
This time, with the COVID regulations being a hurdle for a door to door campaigns, public gatherings and other means of campaigning involving masses, the political parties are to rely on the social media platforms for all their campaigning. Dedicated photoshoots for campaigning through social media pages have begun in the hilly regions of Kozhikode. The customised photoshoot sessions for the candidates are being done in photo studios or outdoor areas.
The photographers go with the candidates for these sessions. Many of the candidates who are debutants in the elections do not even know how to pose for a photograph. Many expressions and interesting moments also happen while shooting the candidates. Both the fronts have engaged professional photographers for their candidates to be presented well on the social media pages.
The candidates preparing to seek votes are also trying their most to get their ‘best angle’ captured to charm the people. Many of them have already started showing up on the social media pages in different looks. The printers and photographers who have been badly affected by the COVID pandemic with hardly any work, this election amid COVID would bring some relief.
