New Delhi: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Wednesday urged students to not just focus on academic excellence but also develop a personality with a sense of social responsibility.
Addressing the 11th conference of principals of Bhavan's secondary and higher secondary schools, Arif Mohammad Khan said that excellence can be achieved with a sense of freedom and self-respect and emphasis must be on personal development.
Governor also added that this transformation comes when the value of social responsibility is imbibed. He reiterated that excellence in education is not only based upon the degrees and marks but is also measured on the basis of one’s personality.
He said, "I always hope and pray that the spirit of a student ever devoted to the pursuit of knowledge never forsakes me and it was for this region that I joined the Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan four decades ago as a life member."
Speaking about the teachers in everyone's life, Kerala Governor said that a teacher is one who liberates us from the darkness and leads towards enlightenment. In every tradition, the teacher has been described as a spiritual mother or father, he added.
