Ernakulam (Kerala): For all those people who come for morning walks in Kochi's Kaloor Stadium, Sangeetha Chinnamuthu is a familiar face as she sells them tea. But, more than being a tea seller, the Teni resident from Tamil Nadu is an inspiration to many as she pursues her goal to become an IAS officer while selling tea.
Sangeetha, a B.com graduate from St Teresa's College has been selling tea since March 2020 and in her free time, she prepares for IAS exam.
Daughter of an ironer, she felt her father's earnings from his job alone will not be enough to meet the expenses for her studies following which she turned to her small venture. Along with tea, she also sells special snacks with fruits, which she prepares at home.
Her determination is bringing her close to her aim as she will be joining a civil service exam training center in Thrissur very soon.
When Sangeetha made it into the news, District Collector Jaffer Malik paid a visit to her small shop. He ensured that assistance was provided for her studies and also gifted a book 'Story Of My Life', which is written by Helen Keller. He also had a conversation with her father Chinnamuthu and mother Sankili Ammal.
Though Sangeetha never expected a visit from the collector, she said that the visit gave her an additional vigour to pursue her dreams.
