Kerala Cong(M) chief hospitalised, condition serious

Kerala Congress chief and veteran leader KM Mani has been hospitalised following a pancreatic ailment. According to reports, his condition is serious.

Ernakulam: Former Kerala Finance Minister and Kerala Congress(M) chief K M Mani has been hospitalised in Kochi, reportedly with serious pancreatic ailments.

According to reports, Mani remains in a semi-conscious condition for the past few days. However, hospital authorities have clarified that Kerala Congress (M) chief is not on ventilator support.

In a statement, the hospital authorities said, K M Mani had to undergo dialysis and daily progress is being monitored. Visitors are prohibited to prevent further infections.

Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid a visit to the former Finance Minister.

K M Mani has been heading the Kerala Congress(Mani) group since 1979 after splitting from the Congress Party. He is the longest-serving MLA and the longest-serving Minister in the state. Mani has represented Pala constituency and has never lost an election in the Assembly elections from his turf.

Mani is credited for presenting 13 State budgets as Finance Minister and has held several other portfolios including Revenue and Law.

Jose K Mani, K M Mani's son is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Kottayam.
