Suspects deny they harassed Kerala actress

Two youngsters aged 24 and 25 have been identified by the police after examining CCTV footage. The suspects denied the allegations of harassing an actress and said they never did anything intentionally and had visited the mall as they were free after a job interview.

Ernakulam: Two youths who allegedly harassed an actress in Kerala have been identified by the police. The men aged 24 and 25 belong to Mankada and Kadannamanna in Malappuram district.

They said that they reached Ernakulam as part of a job interview. " We would have accidentally touched her, never intentionally. As people took a photo with her we came to know that she is an actress," said one of the accused.

The police investigation team headed to Malappuram to take them into custody. The duo, who had reached the mall by Metro train was identified from the CCTV visuals. They got inside the Mall without furnishing their name and details, said the police.

The actress in a moving social media post wrote that she was harassed by two youngsters while she was shopping at a Mall in Kochi. However, the actress family decided not to lodge a complaint in the police station.

Kalamassery police decided to register a suo motu case after examining the CCTV visuals. The police have also recorded the actress’s mother’s statements before filing the case. The State Women’s Commission has also registered a case.
