Hats off to the nurses from Kerala!

Indian nurses, especially those from Kerala, are receiving worldwide appreciation for their dedication and selfless attitude during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hyderabad: With health workers across the globe waging a heroic battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, studies have shown that Kerala-based nurses are playing an invaluable role in countering the pandemic.

A World Health Organization (WHO) report indicates that majority of nurses working worldwide are from India, and the state of Kerala tops the list. Of the healthcare personnel who have graduated from the state of Kerala, around 30 per cent of nurses work in the United States, 15 per cent in Britain and Australia, and around 12 per cent in the Middle East.

Anna Soubry, a former member of the British Parliament, praised the services provided by Kerala nurses in their country's health care system, which reinforced the great service that these nurses have been providing in the Great Britain. A video of her speech has been going viral on social media.

"In our country, we have no problem with the foreign nurses working here. In fact, Indian nurses, especially those who hail from Kerala, come with a lot of passion, humanity and service-orientation and help us learn a lot from them," she says in the video.

As coronavirus wreaks havoc world over, it is the nurses from Kerala, who are risking their lives by being at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic.

Their work has been commendable, and they deserve all our appreciation. Hats off to the Nurses from Kerala!
