Newly-wed man beaten up by wife’s relatives in Kerala's Kozhikode

A gang of eight men attacked Mohammed Swalih and his friends who were travelling in a car in Koyilandy in Kozhikode district of Kerala, in broad daylight. Police have registered a case and the investigation is on.

Kozhikode(Kerala): A gang of eight men attacked a newly-wed man and his friends in Kozhikode district of Kerala, in broad daylight. The men unleashed violence at Mohammed Swalih and his friends who were travelling in a car. The incident happened at Koyilandy in Kozhikode on Thursday.

Mohammed Swalih, a young man, had got married to his lover, regardless of all oppositions from the families, recently. The marriage was legally registered at the Registrar office amid strong opposition from the relatives. It is this incident that might have provoked the girl’s uncles who are said to be behind the goonda attack.

Mohammed Swalih and his friends were waylaid by the gang and threatened. The gang vandalised the car and smashed the windshields and other parts of the car in the rage. Later, Swalih and his friends were also hacked at using machetes and other weapons that the gang possessed. The goondas threatened Swalih of his life.

The girl’s uncles, namely Kabeer and Mansoor who were part of the goonda gang, are said to have hacked Mohammed Swalih during the attack. The locals had gathered and attempted to stop the attack, they were helpless beyond a point.

Koyilandy Police have registered a case and the investigation is on.
