From selling Lemonade to being Sub-Inspector of Police; Inspirational Journey of SI Annie Shiva

Thiruvananthapuram: The life of Annie Shiva, the current Sub-Inspector of Police in charge of Varkala Station in Kerala, is a tale of courage, hard work, determination. From a failed marriage to selling lemonade on the streets for a living, Annie faced a lot of hardships in her life, but despite all the troubles she faced, she is wearing a police uniform today.

Annie got married in the first year of her degree without the consent of her family, but the joy of being married did not last long as her marriage failed. She took to the streets with her eight-month-old baby. Knowing that the family would not take her back, Annie took refuge with her baby at her grandmother's house.

Work and study

Annie later went to work to look after her baby and had to postpone her studies. Her jobs included door to door delivery of curry powder. She also earned a living by writing projects and records for the children and doing different online works. Annie Shiva was battling crises to make life positive even when the environment was unfavourable.

Attempt at SI career

In 2016, she got a job as a woman police officer. She passed the SI examination in 2019. After the training, she was appointed SI in Varkala on June 25, 2021. Each path Annie crossed was a lesson for her. Those who think of committing suicide because they are too tired to face the crisis have a lot to learn from Annie's life. Annie, who had to take to the streets without her own home and family, made her life a resounding success.
