Thiruvananthapuram: The Opposition Congress party on Monday raised serious allegations of fraud and irregularities in the preparation of voters' list in Kerala ahead of the April 6 assembly polls.

Citing the voters' list published by the Election Commission, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ramesh Chennithala said names of deceased people who died eight years ago are included in the list for postal ballot.

Addressing the media in Thiruvananthapuram, Chennithala said that LDF won the LSG election as a result of the irregularities in the voters' list.

He accused the pro-left officials of sabotaging the entire postal ballot process.

The irregularities in the voters' list will affect the election result and will create legal problems. Naturally, the losers will appeal against the result, Chennithala added.

Notably, Chennithala sent a letter to Chief Electoral Officer urging him to scrutinize the voters' list in all the 140 constituencies and remove the deceased persons' names.
