Kannur: The Communist Party of India (CPI) is all set to organise a three-day seminar in Kannur district of Kerala, to teach Vedas and Upanishads.
According to reports, 'The Bharatheyam 2019' seminar will be held on 25th of October on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of former CPI leader and minister N E Balaram.
In its first phase, the program will be held under the auspices of N.E Balaram Memorial Trust and will have experts speaking on subjects like Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads and other epics.
CPI national secretary D Raja will inaugurate the seminar in which about 150 first-timers will get admission to participate in the seminar.
The CPI aims to teach Vedas to curb the growth of the BJP and the RSS and to attract a new generation to the left-wing outfit. The party is also planning to conduct a seminar on Veda in the state within six months.
A cultural march led by the CPM Kannur District Committee, which held as an alternative to the ' Balagokulam Shobha yatra' organized by the RSS, was held earlier.
However, a section of its cadres has come up in opposition against the idea.
