Guruvayur (Kerala): An empty bullet shell was found in one of the two 'hundis' (offering box) at Lord Krishna temple at Guruvayur on Tuesday.
The bullet was noticed during the counting of collections in the temple premises.
"The bullet found in the box is usually used in 9 mm pistol guns and Cue Machine carbine guns," a police official said.
The bullet shell was noticed when the 'hundis' in front of the sanctum sanctorum were opened in the morning.
A case has been registered and an investigation into the matter is underway.
After the Ayodhya verdict, security was tightened inside the temple; but the bullet incident reportedly elevated the demand for extra security inside the temple.
