Kozhikode: Black fungus claimed the life of a man in the state. According to sources, the deceased was identified as Ahmed Kutty, 75, a resident of Valancherry in Malappuram. He breathed his last at 6.15 pm on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College.
Ahmed Kutty was tested Covid negative after undergoing treatment, but later, he was admitted to the medical college after he was infected with Black Fungus.
In all, 52 persons have been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College till date, as they were confirmed with Black Fungus. Meanwhile, a fresh Black Fungus case was reported in Ernakulam district on Tuesday where a woman from Udayamperoor was diagnosed with the virus. She was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi. The woman was infected with the deadly fungus after she tested Covid positive.
