Thiruvananthapuram: The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Court on Monday rejected the bail plea moved by the accused woman who was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting her teenage son in Kadakkavoor.

While dismissing the bail plea, the Thiruvananthapuram POCSO Court observed that the prosecution allegations cannot be denied. The Court said, the case presented by the prosecution is believable, and granting bail to the accused woman at this juncture may affect the investigation of the case.

The woman’s family is to move the higher court with an appeal. The woman’s kin alleges that the case is framed against her as revenge as she was against her husband’s second marriage. Her relatives had already complained against the fake case charged against her.

Meanwhile, a team, led by I G Harshitha Attalloori, has started investigating the case. The counselling report which came to light on Monday was against the claims made by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) chairperson against the police investigation team.

Mentioning her as the primary informer in the case in the Police’s First Information Report is wrong, the CWC chairperson N Sunanda had said, earlier.

However, as per the report released on Monday, the CWC report submitted to the Police had clearly said that the minor boy was firm on his stance that he was sexually abused by his mother. Based on this, the Police had, on November 10, directed to counsel the child and hand over the report. Later, on November 30, the report was handed to the police.

Following this, the Police registered a case based on the CWC report on December 18. The Police Inspector-General has demanded a secret statement from the child and a medical report.
