Ernakulam (Kerala): Police in Kalamassery in Ernakulam have arrested two youngsters who are accused of sexually harassing a young female actor at a shopping mall.
Ramshad and Adhil, aged around 25 years, hailing from Perintalmanna in Malappuram District of Kerala, were identified by the Police using the CCTV visuals at the Mall, Metro station and other places. The duo has been booked under IPC section 354. The incident happened on Thursday when the actor along with her family went shopping at a popular shopping mall in Kochi.
The duo had attempted to grope the actor and had abused her. The actor could not react as she was shocked. However, when she later went up to the men to confront them, they disregarded her. The actor herself had revealed about the harassment she had faced at the shopping mall through her official social media handle, urging all women to react strongly to such instances.
Though the actor was not ready to make a formal complaint, the police registered a suo moto case against the duo after examining the visuals. A police team from Kalamassery had reached Perintalmanna to nab the culprits after tracing them. However, the duo had fled from there by then.
The CCTV visuals collected from the shopping mall, Metro station and South Railway station helped the police identify the culprits. Following this, the police had released the pictures of the culprits on Saturday afternoon.
Later, when the duo where on their way to surrender along with their advocate, the police picked them from Kalamassery on Sunday afternoon. Both the men would be produced before the Court soon.
