Koppal (Karnataka): In a gesture reflecting religious harmony, a Muslim farmer has donated the first crop harvested in his field to a Hindu Math located in Koppal district headquarters town in Karnataka. The young farmer named Mehbub Pasha hails from Gangavati, a village near Koppal. The Gavit Math (Shree Gavisiddeswara Math) is a Hindu charitable and religious organisation which carries out 'Anna Dasoha' (free food distribution) everyday all through the year.
The Muslim farmer had recently bought three acres of land near Lakkumpi village near Kanakagiri. There was one acre of unusable land and only two acres had been sown. A total of 16 quintals of 'pearl millet' have been harvested from two acres. Since it was his first crop, Mehbub Pasha decided to donate it for the benefit of the entire community.
Then, the young farmer told a businessman about his intention. The trader told him that his purpose to serve the community would be served best if the crop is donated to a math. Following the trader's advice, the Muslim farmer donated all the grain worth Rs 30,000 to the Gavi Math.
Appreciating the gesture of the young man, Abinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji of Gavi Math accepted the donation and reciprocated by honouring Mehbub Pasha in the presence of devotees and farmers.
