Mysore: A 35-year-old woman who had undergone a simultaneous pancreas, kidney transplant (SPKT) three years ago, has successfully delivered her baby without any complications.
It is for the first time in the country where after an SPKT a woman is able to conceive naturally and deliver a healthy child. Doctors at Apollo BGS Hospital in Mysore assisted her with the delivery. Diabetes had affected her badly, but fortunately, the woman and her baby are stable, according to doctors. She delivered on Sunday evening at Apollo Hospital in Kuvempu Nagar.
Dr Suresh Raghavaiah, a surgical consultant, Dr BP Anjali, a gynecologist and Dr Anita Mukherjee, an anesthesiologist, were present at the clinic, said NG Sarish Reddy. Reddy is the vice president of the administrative division of Apollo BGS Hospital.
