Karnataka: A video of a Bengaluru police officer mercilessly beating a man has gone viral on social media.
In the video, sub-inspector of Subramanya Nagar police station, Sri Kantegowda can be seen brutally thrashing a man named Yasvantha with several other men over suspicion of harassment.
The video has raised various questions over the police's way of delivering justice to the public.
In response to the viral video, North Division DCP Shashikumar said, "The so-called victim named Yasvantha has been punished for harassing a woman in the parking lot of the World Trade Centre in the city."
Yasvantha worked as a technician in the same building.
Reportedly, some of the police station staff who were against the sub-inspector's actions captured a video of the incident and uploaded it online.
The DCP later clarified that the police is investigating the case and assured that the culprit will be punished.
