Bengaluru: A techie from Tamilnadu built an audio travel guide app called Pinakin which makes the tourist to access the nearest touring spot without any guide.
Srikanth Ayer from Madurai developed Pinakin app in 2004 as it was his dream to helps lakhs of Indian and foreign tourists.
Srikanth once went to Delhi to visit Qutub Minar and several places, he was not satisfied with the information provided by guide over there. The same day he got an idea to build a tourist guiding audio app.
Srikant's Pinakin app covers few tourist places of Karnataka and Tamilnadu and he is working to add some more places into the same platform.
Recent data shows Pinakin app used by 80 thousand android and 22 thousand iPhone users.
Now Pinakin covers Mysore palace, Sriranga Pattana fort, holy trinity church, Someshwara temple, Tippu Palace, Hampi, Badami, Ihole, Pattadakallu, Chenna Keshava temple of Beluru, Lal Bhag, Government Museum of Bengaluru.
In Tamilnadu, the app covers Madurai Meenakshi temple, Sri Ranganatha temple in Srirangam, Chennai musium, Rahu temple Kumbakonam, Kapaleeshwar temple, Kanchipuram Ekambareswarar temple, Gingee fort, Kanchipuram Vaikuntanadan temple, Mahabalipuram, Tanjore, Gangai konda cholapuram, Airavatesvara temple.
The app supports multiple languages, the tourist audio can be access in English, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and French.
